Roots in Malwa, Living Traditions in Rajasthan
The Malviya (Malaviya) community traces its roots to the Malwa region of central India, originally as a Gaud (Gaur) Brahmin subgroup. Over time, the surname "Malviya" – meaning "from Malwa" – spread with migration; today Malviyas are found across northern India. In Rajasthan, the name appears not only among Brahmins but also as a gotra of Jats and among various other communities, reflecting the rich diversity of our heritage.
